If you are looking for waterproof shutters or bathroom shutters the please do get in touch. Please read on for more information about how different designs of waterproof shutters we have installed.
In general, if your looking to install shutters in wet rooms, bathrooms or other high humidity areas such as utility rooms you should really look to install our specialist shutter product. Definitely do not install MDF shutters as these will absorb moisture and blow. In some case where ventilation is very good and there is no risk of condensation wood shutters can be used. Stained wood is less sensitive to moisture than painted shutters.
Our waterproof shutters are made from pvc and have an aluminium core for extra stability. In general most customers will have the hinges made in stainless steel to minimise any rusting. You can have coloured hinges but these are powder coated steel and they can discolour or rust over time depending on moisture levels in the room. There is a range of colours but most customer choose pure white as this tends to be the best match for their windows and sanitary ware.
One of the key advantages of shutters in bathrooms is the ability to split the louvers into two separate banks of louvers allowing you to place the bottom half into privacy mode. In general we are looking to let in as much light as possible while providing privacy from neck down. If you need to adjust the top slats that is of course not an issue.
We realise that shutters aren’t the only solution. In this bathroom the customer chose white wood venetians with white tapes. Faux wood venetians are also available, and these are in general a better solution if you have a high amount of condensation or humidity. The faux wood venetians do not look as good as the wood but are functional.
