Converted Home Shutters

If you are looking for shutters for your bedroom, living room or kitchen then please get in touch. Read on for more information and inspiration on cafe style and full height shutters and velux or skylight window shutters we installed in this great converted home.

This home out at Upper Froyle, between Alton and Farnham, is part of the Linden Homes development.  We used a number of different shutter designs to complement this converted home.

For the main living area we were faced with very large windows. Although we considered shuttering the whole of the window we felt that this would enclose the room. By having café style shutters the large unshuttered area gave great views of the sky but more importantly we were able to provide privacy from the road outside. The addition of a hidden split in the louvered section allowed the privacy level to be lowered further.

In general we can accommodate most shapes. In this instance the the small shape above the window made it near enough impossible to dress with any other kind of window covering. By using the craftsmanship of individually made to measure shutters we were able to find a solution that was practical and accentuated the architectural shape of the window.

Here, in the kitchen, we used a specialist frame called a z frame. The z frame actually outs a 15mm architrave around the window reveal. This not only gives the shutter a stylish finish but places the shutter in line with the recess and the wall. This means that the shutter panels can be folded flat against the wall. By having a 3 panel design the return fold on the wall is smaller and looks more elegant when the shutter panels are in their open position.

Amazing Shutters, Amazing Prices.

Not all windows in the home need to have the same shutter treatment. In this instance, for example, the kitchen window is made up of a bifold and a single shutter mounted in line with the recess. This frame is known as a z-frame. This allows the shutters to be folded back against the wall either side. This is a different mounting style to the lounge and shaped window but if the windows are on different aspects of the home this is not such an issue. We do normally advocate the shutters that are on the same aspect of a house match so that kerb appeal is maximised but hey the choice is yours.
